Two unique in-person workshops for everyone who wants to be heard by Welsh Government

Every day governments take decisions that affect third sector organisations and the people they work with. Yet it can often be difficult for charities, community groups and other nonprofits to put their views and experiences to government.

These unique workshops will give you the insights and tools you need to be heard by decision-makers.

What’s it about?

The workshops draw on the findings of research by Dr Amy Sanders on how third sector organisations influence Welsh Government, meaning that the techniques and tips you’ll learn are based on sound evidence of ‘what works’. It is funded by Aberystwyth University’s Dialogue Centre.

The training is split into two workshops – the morning session covers influencing the Welsh Government in general, while the afternoon session focuses specifically on influencing equalities policy. You are welcome to attend either or both sessions.

Who should attend?

The workshops will be of interest to:

  • all third sector organisations who want to influence local or Welsh government policies.
  • umbrella bodies representing third sector organisations.
  • organisations working on equalities issues (including age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation).
  • grassroots and community groups.

There is something for everyone but people or organisations who are new to influencing will benefit in particular.

Practicalities

The training will be in-person at St Davids Lounge within the Principality Stadium in Cardiff city centre. It involves audience activities and participation so please be prepared to contribute.

The training will be delivered in English.

Attendance is free but prior booking is essential. We are asking for one registration per organisation.
