Poverty

The launch of the Foundation’s latest Snapshot of poverty survey highlighted that financial hardship has become the new normal for thousands of families across Wales. The findings were reported by a range of news outlets including Nation.Cymru, Yahoo News, Deeside.com, Cambrian News, Voice.Wales and golwg360.

ITV Wales included these insights in their feature on the opening of Wales’ first multibank, and the Foundation’s Head of Policy (Poverty) Steffan Evans appeared on ITV News on 6th March to share the findings.

Across the radio, Steffan discussed the insights in a feature on Bauer Media’s network of Welsh radio stations, and Director Victoria Winckler featured on BBC Radio Wales.

The South Wales Argus shared Victoria’s views on how the new First Minister must prioritise tackling poverty, and Nation.Cymru featured the Bevan Foundation’s insights into rural poverty in an article by Cefin Campbell MS.

The Bangor Aye covered an event held in partnership with Hywel Williams MP where Head of Policy, Steffan Evans, shared the Foundation’s work around tackling poverty in Arfon.

Welsh Benefits

In March, the Bevan Foundation sponsored a main-stage debate at the Plaid Cymru conference in Caernarfon, with discussions around the Foundation’s ongoing work into establishing a Welsh Benefits System. The event was covered by news outlets including Morning Star and golwg360.

Other

The Bevan Foundation’s Director, Victoria Winckler, shared the latest on recruitment of overseas workers in Business News Wales, highlighting the impact this will have on Welsh businesses.

Steffan Evans also appeared on BBC Wales’ Walescast, to sift through the details of the Chancellor’s Budget and examine what they mean for Wales.
