Sara and Jess are currently entering into their third year at Swansea Metropolitan University studying Surface Pattern Design.  Their experience so far has been limited to within the  confines of Swansea and the University. This wasn’t enough so they took it upon themselves to see what else was out there for young designers. This is how they discovered the Printhaus and the Bevan Foundation.

Printhaus is a not-for-profit organisation based in Cardiff and the ethos is all about supporting and working with those who are willing and able to take the initiative and to create opportunities that are mutually beneficial and rewarding.

The Bevan Foundation approached the Printhaus to produce some bespoke marketing material for use at this year’s Green Man Festival.  Sara and Jess agreed to take on the challenge and they produced some huge screen printed flags and beautiful printed t-shirts.

“We have been so lucky and thankful to have had this amazing experience. At first we didn’t know how we were going to achieve such a large brief in such a short space of time. We successfully made everything within two weeks and time flew by. It was a real test for us to undergo a real brief with a real company the other end rather than just a grade and a well done  from a lecturer. The flags are bigger than anything we had worked on before, so it was hard to envisage the outcome. But through managing our time, being persistent and working with each other everyday, we all knew what the next stages were and we encouraged each other to work through it. We worked well as a team, have all thoroughly enjoyed it and love the fact that other people will see our work at the Festival and hopefully will enjoy looking at it as much as we enjoyed making it. We would like to say many thanks to the Printhaus (Jude) and the Bevan Foundation (Daneka), Abbie, Holly and Delyth”
