The Bevan Foundation’s work has gathered media attention this month.

There was media interest in a range of Bevan Foundation work during February – including our work and views on childcare, poverty and Welsh benefits.

Childcare

The launch of the Foundation’s report with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Tackling disadvantage through childcare in Wales was covered by Nation.Cymru and Yahoo News, following a debate in the Senedd on two petitions calling for working parents in Wales to be offered the same childcare support as in England.

Poverty

Head of Policy (Poverty), Steffan Evans, spoke about poverty in Wales and the Bevan Foundation’s work at Pembrokeshire County Council’s Tackling Poverty Summit. The event was covered by Wales 247.

Welsh Benefits

An article in Cambrian News referenced the Foundation’s research into establishing a Welsh benefits system to ensure families across Wales can easily claim what is rightfully theirs.

Supporting people with No Recourse to Public Funds

In February the Bevan Foundation published a report highlighting that not enough is being done in Wales to support people on low incomes who are living, working, and studying in Wales on temporary visas. The key findings of the report were shared in an article by the West Wales Chronicle.

Other

The Bevan Foundation’s Director, Victoria Winckler penned an article for Business News Wales in February, focusing on the outlook for the Welsh economy.

Discussions around the Welsh Government’s Draft Budget for 2024-25 continued with an article by Senedd Research, which referenced the Bevan Foundation’s evidence to the Finance Committee.

Yahoo News also wrote that the Foundation’s Chair, Gavin Thompson, was to be the next guest speaker at the City of Newport Business Club.
