The Bevan Foundation has set out its views on child poverty to an influential committee of Senedd Members.

The Bevan Foundation Foundation was pleased to give oral evidence to the Senedd’s Equality and Social Justice Committee inquiry into child poverty on 25th September 2023. The Foundation’s Director, Victoria Winckler, was a witness along with Dr Rod Hick from Cardiff University and Sean O’Neill from Children in Wales.  The session followed the submission of written evidence to the Committee and a response to  the Welsh Government’s consultation on its draft strategy.

The Committee’s questioning was wide ranging, covering everything from the key actions that could be taken to reduce child poverty, whether anything can be learned from international best practice and arrangements for monitoring progress to an appropriate target for the Welsh Government to aim to achieve.

The recording of the session is available here and the transcript will be available shortly.
