Influencing the Senedd is one way of achieving lasting change.  This online course will give you the knowledge, tools, tips and contacts you need to make a difference.

Online session via Zoom with interactive sessions and full course materials

Many organisations in Wales engage with the Senedd as well as Welsh Government, aiming to raise awareness for their cause as well as changing the law.  But navigating the Senedd’s business and working with politicians can be challenging.  This course will help you to avoid the pitfalls by learning from the team at Wales’ most influential think tank.

What it’s about

This course will help you to understand:

  • when to target the Senedd
  • different opportunities to influence and how to use them, including:
    • giving evidence to committees
    • shaping primary and secondary legislation
    • organising briefings and events.
  • the importance of the Welsh budget.

It’s an invaluable follow-on from our session on influencing Welsh Government, but will also be useful as a stand-alone course.

Quality assured

The course is led by experts from Wales’ most influential think tank, as acknowledged by political leaders in the Senedd on 12th January 2022:

I want to highlight the pivotal role of the Bevan Foundation. Its work on debt … certainly helped prompt the committee into undertaking this inquiry …

The course builds on our popular introductory training, as well as specialist sessions on influencing Senedd committees and public spending.

CPD accreditation is expected shortly, giving you the assurance that the course is follows best practice in learning and has high standards.  All learners completing the session can request CPD certification of their participation.

Who should attend

The course will be of interest to everyone who wants to be heard by the Senedd including:

  • charities, social enterprises and other voluntary groups
  • professional associations and representative bodies
  • academics seeking policy impact from their research findings
  • grassroots campaigners.
