Providing the foundations of debate on the economy

Economy A woman making food

The Bevan Foundation’s online article on the ‘foundational economy’ had a big impact on discussion when Assembly Members’ debated the subject in an ‘individual members” debate on 8th March.

The Bevan Foundation has long argued that a policy focus on sectors like food, energy, social care and the environment is more likely to improve the prospects of low-paid workers than so-called high-skill sectors.

So we were delighted when Assembly Members drew heavily on our online article in their Individual Members’ debate on the subject on 8th March 2017.

Both Rhianon Passmore AM and Vikki Howells AM quoted from our article, and BBC Wales also picked up on our input in its live coverage of the debate.
