Self-employment accounts for a significant proportion of employment in Wales today, yet many self-employed people at the lower end of the income spectrum and from across different sectors struggle with insecurity of pay, hours and have little safety net for their financial well-being and future.

Helen Cunningham

Helen joined the Bevan Foundation in March 2019 after a period at the European Commission in the department for Regional and Urban Policy. She is currently researching the financial well-being of people who experience low-income and insecure self-employment.

Dr Victoria Winckler

Victoria Winckler is Director of the Bevan Foundation, where she has been leading its project on fair work in the foundational economy. She has more than 30 years' experience in labour market analysis, and policy innovation, delivering significant change to public policy and practice over her career.
