The Bevan Foundation, has appointed Vivienne Sugar as the new chair of its board of Trustees.

The Bevan Foundation develops solutions to social and economic challenges in Wales through research, exchange of good practice and debate, and plays a key role in informing and shaping public policy in Wales. Vivienne Sugar brings a wealth of skills and expertise to the Bevan Foundation, having been until recently Chair of Consumer Futures Wales and a member of the Council of Swansea University. She was previously Chief Executive of the City and County of Swansea and a member of the Richard Commission on devolution.

Commenting on her appointment Viv said “I am delighted to be appointed to this important role. The Bevan Foundation has an ambitious work programme and some challenging fundraising targets, but its work has never been more needed. Wales faces some long-standing problems, and I am looking forward to working with our director, Victoria Winckler, and the rest of the board to develop innovative and practical solutions. ”

One of Viv’s aims is to broaden the skills and experience of the board of the Bevan Foundation, particularly on funding, finance and membership.  Viv said “We welcome expressions of interest from people who can bring strategic vision and expertise in fundraising and running a membership-based organisation. We are firmly independent and are particularly keen to have a diversity of views and backgrounds on our board.”

An information pack for prospective Trustees is available at http://bevanfoundation.org/bevan-news/trustee-vacancies/. All trustee posts are unpaid.  The closing date for expressions of interest is 31st October 2014.
