The Bevan Foundation’s work continues to inform the media through July.

Our most recent project on the harms and benefits of opening banking money management apps for people on low incomes was mentioned in an FCS Associates article on the Adverse Consumer Experiences Fund.

Child Poverty

The Bevan Foundation’s Head of Policy, Dr Steffan Evans, was quoted on child poverty to inform an article by Voice of Wales on the Welsh Government decision to withdraw free school meal support in the summer holidays.

  • On July 13th, Steffan Evans appeared on S4C’S Pawb a’i Farn to discuss child poverty in Wales
  • On July 20th, Steffan also appeared on Radio Wales Breakfast Show to discuss the decision to stop free school meals over the summer holidays.

Housing

On July 12th, Deeside reported on homelessness in Flintshire amid the cost-of-living crisis. The Chief Officer for Housing and Communities, Vicky Clark, referenced the Bevan Foundation report on Wales’ Housing Crisis to highlight the availability of private rental homes and those available for local housing allowance. The following day, a similar article by the Leader also drew on Vicky Clark’s references to the Foundation’s work on the housing crisis.
