The Bevan Foundation has today (2nd September) submitted to the National Assembly for Wales its views on the priorities of two key committees.
Responding to the consultations by the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee and the Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee, the Foundation has called for a strong focus on the issues that affect the least well-off in Wales. These include:
- continued scrutiny of the Welsh Government’s approach to reducing poverty
- an in-depth inquiry into services for people with mild to moderate mental ill-health
- an investigation into the effectiveness of public health interventions for people in low income groups
Bevan Foundation Director, Dr Victoria Winckler, said:
We welcome the opportunity to put our views forward to these important committees. Committee inquiries can highlight what the Welsh Government is doing well, as well as where it needs to do better. We’ve chosen the areas we think the Committee should look at because they matter to people of Wales. We hope the Committee will take them into account.
