The Upper Afan Valley has been the subject of numerous regeneration attempts with varying degrees of success: these attempts vary from the Home Office’s Urban Development Programme in the 1960s to the Welsh Government’s Strategic Regeneration Area today, but there are questions about whether these efforts have made any difference to this beautiful part of of the south Wales valleys.
The report, written by Victoria Winckler, is based on analysis of statistics and documents, as well as interviews with local stakeholders and citizens. It concludes that only through genuine investment and cooperation between organisations will any progress be made.
