The Bevan Foundation were pleased to be able to share some of our latest insights with MPs

Over past two years, the Bevan Foundation has undertaken extensive work looking at the challenges facing low-income renters in Wales. Our work on the Local Housing Allowance and Discretionary Housing Payments has garnered significant interest from politicians across the spectrum, and we were pleased to recently receive an invite from Jo Stevens MP, the Shadow Secretary of State for Wales, and Gerald Jones MP, to discuss the work in more detail.

During the conversation, we were able to inform both of some of the key challenges facing low-income renters in Wales and to share insights about the nation’s growing homelessness crisis. We also shared some of our ideas for how the situation could be improved, in particular talking about the importance of uprating the Local Housing Allowance.

We look forward to continue working with members from all parties as we make the case for uplifting LHA ahead of the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement later in the year.
