With the cost of living crisis continuing to hit the headlines the Bevan Foundation have been busy sharing their insights.

It’s been another busy month for the Bevan Foundation as the cost-of-living crisis continues. On Tuesday May 10th our Head of Policy (Poverty) Steffan Evans joined S4C’s Newyddion to react to the Queen’s Speech. Steffan outlined that whilst it was not a shock that measures to address the cost-of-living crisis had not appeared in the speech, it was still disappointing that the UK Government is not taking the measures necessary to protect the poorest households form rising prices.

Two days later (May 12th) Steffan joined BBC Radio Wales Breakfast with Claire Summers to discuss the impact of rising costs on food poverty. Steffan outlined that it is a lack of money that is the primary reason why families turn to foodbanks and that the situation was likely to deteriorate as more families feel the squeeze.

On Thursday May 26th Steffan appeared on S4C’s Newyddion to react to the Chancellor’s announcement that additional support would be made available to households in response to the cost of living crisis. Steffan welcomed the announcement, in particular the recognition that low income households need additional support, but, he argued that there was still a need to go further to protect families.
