NewsMarch 12th, 2018

Last Wednesday we were privileged to launch the latest Joseph Rowntree Report on Poverty in Wales.

The launch – held in the Senedd was very well attended, with more than 50 delegates including AMs and representatives from the public and third sector. Although it was sobering to hear that almost 1 in 4 people in Wales are living in poverty, it was great to have an audience who seemed so engaged and committed to solving the issue. The event received some excellent media coverage including in:

In addition, JRF’s Head of Analysis, Helen Barnard, was interviewed by BBC Good Morning Wales (radio – 7m45s in) and talkRADIO with Julia Hartley-Brewer (at 07:23am). Helen gave pre-recorded interview clips for BBC Wales (TV) and ITV Wales which were then used throughout the day, including the 18:00 evening bulletin. The launch event also received coverage in ITV News and was covered by BBC Radio Wales’ Morning Call.

There was also a lively debate on Twitter, where the #SolvePovertyWales and generated a wide range of contributions. We’ve captured some of them in this Storify so take a look for yourselves!
