Discretionary Housing Payments offer temporary financial support towards household’s housing costs, but are they working for Wales?

This webinar presents the Bevan Foundation’s latest findings about the use of Discretionary Housing Payments in Wales.

As people in Wales are struggling with the ongoing housing crisis, Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) offer a method for local authorities to help households in their area who are at risk of homelessness or who are struggling to meet their housing costs. But how effectively are they supporting people across Welsh communities.

The Bevan Foundation has undertaken an analysis of DHPs in Wales, to better understands how the current system operates, its strengths, and its weaknesses.

This webinar will cover our key findings and look at the following questions:

  • How are DHPs used in Wales?
  • Are DHPs providing adequate support for households struggling with their housing costs?
  • How can DHPs work more effectively for the people of Wales?
