Each year the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions is required to review the level of benefits. Working age benefits are generally uprated every April in line with the previous September’s CPI inflation figure. With soaring inflation and concerns about levels of public spending and borrowing following September’s mini budget there have been a number of press reports that benefits could rise in line with earnings, as opposed to inflation in April 2023.
