Sharing our thoughts on the Welsh Government’s proposals to reform the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
The Welsh Government has asked people for their views about its Council Tax Reduction Scheme. The paper focused on two measures, attempts to simplify the process of accessing the process of accessing the Council Tax Reduction Scheme and questions about simplifying the administrative complexity of the scheme.
The Bevan Foundation believes both proposals have merit and should be taken forward by the Welsh Government. Our response does set out however, that this work should be viewed as part of broader work in establishing a Welsh Benefits System and urges the team working on this proposal to work closely with the team working on implementing the Welsh Benefits System within Welsh Government.
