Green Jobs and Justice

Wales is one of the dirtiest countries in the world and will face intense pressure to reduce its carbon emissions, potentially putting thousands of jobs at risk – this report argues that in all the changes that lie ahead, whether driven by the Welsh Government or the EU, ahead it must not be workers and the communities they live in which bear the brunt of change.  The report author, Victoria Winckler, says that the Wales’s approach to developing green jobs is insufficient, not least as Wales’s environmental industries and services are relatively week.  The report calls for a more radical approach in which the wellbeing of workers is as important as reducing carbon emissions, and urges Wales TUC, who commissioned the analysis, to play a leading role pressing for change.

The report is available in summary or in full.
