In the debate about migrant workers coming to Wales the focus has very much been on migrants from Eastern European, with relatively little attention being given to workers – usually actively recruited by the NHS and employed on the same terms and conditions as UK staff. This small-scale study of Filippino workers highlights the challenges faced by this group of migrants in the Neath Port Talbot area of Wales. It finds that despite the relatively good conditions of employment enjoyed by the migrants they still face issues of discrimination and hardship.
