The Bevan Foundation has shared insights from its work with the Senedd’s Local Government and Housing Committee as it undertakes an inquiry into Council Tax reform

The Senedd’s Local Government and Housing Committee has recently opened an inquiry into Council Tax reform in Wales. The Bevan Foundation is pleased to have been able to submit a written response to the committee.

Our response draws on our expertise to explore:

  • The potential impact of a council tax revaluation and revised council tax bands on local government finances and administration.
  • The potential benefits and disadvantages of regular property revaluations on local government administration, and the impact on those liable to pay council tax.
  • Options for reforming the Council Tax Reduction Scheme and council tax deductions.

Our response can be read in full below.
