The Bevan Foundation calls for the Welsh Government draft budget to ease pressure on low income households.
Ahead of the publication of the Welsh Government’s draft budget for 2025/26, the Bevan Foundation has submitted its response to the Senedd Finance Committee’s inquiry into the draft budget.
The committee is exploring expectations of the Welsh Government draft budget for 2025/26, including financial readiness for the financial year and the impact of the 2024/25 Budget. The Finance Committee looks at the Welsh Government’s Draft Budget from a strategic, overarching perspective, and works with other Committees who look at areas of the budget within their remits in more detail.
The Bevan Foundation urges the Welsh Government to continue to support low income households using mechanisms such as the Discretionary Assistance Fund, uplifting devolved grants and allowances by inflation and restoring the value of eligibility thresholds, increase investment in childcare and social housing, and ensure fair provision of free school meals.
