This study looks at the links between childcare and poverty which it finds to be complex and powerful – it reviews the current provision of childcare places in Wales and explores the role of childcare in enabling parents to work and hence avoid poverty. The report authors, Anthea Symonds and Anne Kelly, conclude that a ‘childcare revolution’ is needed to ensure that provision is available to all, is good quality and not only benefits working parents and employers but benefits children themselves.
The summary is available in English and Welsh, and the full report is available in English.
