The Bevan Foundation appeared before to Equality and Social Justice Committee to give oral evidence
The Bevan Foundation has given oral evidence to the Senedd’s Equality and Social Justice Committee as part of their inquiry into fuel poverty in Wales.
Giving evidence alongside Ben Saltmarsh from National Energy Action, Jonathon Cosson from Warm Wales and Hannah Peeler from Care and Repair Cymru; Steffan Evans, Head of Policy (Poverty) at the Bevan Foundation, shared insights from some of the Foundation’s work.
Among the key points made by Steffan was that there is a need to increase both the scale of ambition and pace of delivery of the Welsh Government’s work on fuel poverty, in particular its Warm Homes Programme (Nest). Steffan also outlined the importance of viewing fuel poverty in its wider context with a need to take action to put money into families’ pockets alongside efforts to increase the energy efficiency of homes.
