The Bevan Foundation highlights the realities of living in temporary accommodation in the most recent edition of Welsh Housing Quarterly

Our Senior Policy & Research Officer, Wendy Dearden, was pleased to contribute an article to the Autumn edition of Wales’ only independent housing magazine, Welsh Housing Quarterly.

In the article, Wendy outlines the key findings from our recent report with Shelter Cymru around temporary accommodation in Wales. Latest figures show that one in every 215 households in Wales now lives in temporary accommodation. These included over 3,000 children – nearly six in every 1,000 children. Local authority services are buckling under unprecedented demand.

Wendy explains who lives in temporary accommodation, what life is like, how difficult it is to move on, and why unlocking the supply of social homes is the answer.
