Bevan Foundation work covered by the media through November
November was another busy month for the Bevan Foundation. Our work captured the press’ imagination throughout the month, informing discussion.
Cost of living crisis
The cost of living crisis continues to be the biggest story in the media, with the Foundation’s work playing an important role in informing discussion.
On November 8th, the Bevan Foundation’s Head of Policy (Poverty) Steffan Evans appeared on BBC Radio Cymru’s consumer advice programme, Gwneud Bywyd yn Haws to discuss some of the Foundation’s work on the cost of living crisis. Steffan both provided listeners with the context for the current crisis and identify some extra support schemes that listeners might be able to draw on that are currently underclaimed.
Steffan was also quoted by Walesonline in an article on Warm Places on November 18th. In it Steffan identified both the opportunities and the limitations of Warm Places as their rollout got underway in Wales.
Our Snapshot of Poverty in Summer 2022 report also continued to be referenced in the press and more broadly. Data from the report were referenced in articles on Nation.Cymru and in an article in the Senedd Research Service.
There was also coverage given in the Rhyl, Prestatyn and Abergele Journal to a presentation given by our Director, Victoria Winckler to Denbighshire County Council. The Foundation featured again in the Journal, this time, our work on Welsh Benefits was referenced by Mark Isherwood MS in his article for the paper.
Holiday rentals
The Foundation’s recent work on Holiday Lets and the private rental sector continued to get press coverage through November.
Our work on holiday lets featured in our Director’s monthly article for Business News Wales. It further featured in two articles penned by Cefin Campbell MS. The first was published in the Brecon and Radnor Express on November 1st with the second featuring in the Powys County Times on November 5th.
