The Bevan Foundation appeared before the Local Government and Housing Committee

The Bevan Foundation has given oral evidence to the Local Government and Housing Committee as part of their inquiry into homelessness.

Giving evidence alongside Allan Eveleigh of North Wales Housing Association, Matt Dicks of CIH Cymru, Shayne Hembrow of Wales & West Housing and Steven Bletsoe of the National Residential Landlords Association, Steffan Evans, Head of Policy (Poverty) at the Bevan Foundation, shared insights from some of the Foundation’s work.

Among the key points made by Steffan was that the gap that has developed between the Local Housing Allowance (LHA) and rents is contributing to the rise of homelessness in Wales. His evidence drew heavily on the Foundation’s ongoing work exploring the relationship between the Local Housing Allowance and homelessness in Wales, including its most recent publications on the rental market in Wales, and its work on holiday lets.
