As the cost-of-living crisis deepens, the Bevan Foundation’s research provides vital insight on its impact on Welsh families

The cost-of-living crisis has dominated the headlines throughout August. Against a backdrop of rising interest rates and surging prices the Bevan Foundation’s latest Snapshot of poverty report has provided a vital tool for media outlets across Wales that want to better understand its impact on families.

Throughout August the findings from our work have featured in a variety of local papers across the nation. These have included the North Wales Pioneer, the Cambrian News, the Rhyl Journal, the Socialist Worker, The Brecon and Radnor Express, The Denbighshire Free Press, The Wrexham Leader, and the Tivyside Advertiser.

The Foundation’s work on the cost-of-living has also been featured in the broadcast media. Throughout August, our Head of Policy (poverty) Dr Steffan Evans has made appearances on BBC Radio Cymru, Radio Wales, Newyddion and Global’s radio networks to discuss rising energy costs. Meanwhile, pour Director, Dr Victoria Winckler wrote a guest article for Business News Wales about what businesses could do to cope with the ongoing crisis.

To end the month it was the Bevan Foundation’s work on school uniforms that captured the headlines. Contributions by Steffan featured on BBC Wales‘ radio, website and news outlets, with the work also featured on S4C’s Newyddion.
