The Bevan Foundation’s Pledge to plate report covered extensively by BBC Wales.

Friday June 10 saw the Bevan Foundation’s Pledge to plate report covered extensively by the BBC. The report, first published in April, outlines measures that could be taken to ensure the Welsh Government’s pledge to provide every primary school pupil with a Free School Meal is implemented as quickly as possible.

The Bevan Foundation’s work was covered on BBC Radio Wales, Radio Cymru, Wales Today, S4C’s Newyddion and the BBC’s website. Particular focus was given to the Foundation’s calls to provide schools and local authority with flexibility to to serve healthy, cold meals in schools whose facilities are not ready for the immediate roll-out of universal hot food, to speed up rollout.

Speaking on behalf of the Bevan Foundation, Steffan Evans said:

We know more and more families are going to struggle this winter as costs rise so making sure we get as many children as possible benefiting from the provision of healthy free meals, even if it is cold meals, I think would be welcomed by most families whilst we increase capacity in the long term.

You can still see the coverage on the BBC’s website, with the reporting available in Welsh and in English.
