Bevan Foundation joins Welfare Rights Advisers Cymru

Steffan Evans discusses how the social security system can alleviate poverty 

The Bevan Foundation were delighted to receive an invitation from Welfare Rights Advisers Cymru (WRAC) to join a virtual meeting on 28 April. WRAC were eager to hear more about the Bevan Foundation’s work on poverty and the role social security system played in alleviating poverty.  

In his presentation Steffan shared more information about the Bevan Foundation’s work on the need to establish a Welsh Benefits System. He outlined how establishing such a system could alleviate the impact of poverty in Wales and reduce the pressure on local authority staff and welfare rights advisors. 

The presentation was a well received and was followed by a interesting discussion. Steffan outlined how the Bevan Foundation is planning on undertaking more work on the Welsh Benefits System and urged interested partners to engage with the Foundation as this progressed.
