We’ve launched a new initiative inviting residents and workers in the south Wales valleys to share what they love about the area and what could make it even better.

We know that the valleys are a good place to live and work and could be even better with more investment. Your voice will provide further impetus to our case for this investment.

Selected contributions will be used in a video and publication to support our recommendations to key decision-makers which point to the need for policy change to improve the valleys.

The initiative is the final part of our project to build local economic resilience in the south Wales valleys, which has been addressing the big socio-economic challenges facing some areas such as jobs, skills, health and well-being. It’s a vital project which has become increasingly important in the light of automation, demographic change, Brexit and of course the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now we’re looking to residents and workers to answer these questions:

  1. What do you like about the valleys?
  2. What would make the valleys better?

Contributions on any topic are welcome, whether it’s the local culture, history, transport or environment, or jobs, housing, education or health.

They can take the format of a captioned photo, a short video clip, or a longer written submission. All valid submissions will be entered into a prize draw to win one of 3 £25-£50 cash prizes and must be received by 12noon on Thursday 20th May.

Find out more about getting involved and see all terms and conditions.
