The Bevan Foundation has today launched a new campaign encouraging people to join against poverty.

The launch comes as anti-poverty campaigners prepare for International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17th October which this year focuses on how people can act together to end poverty.

Director of the Foundation Dr Victoria Winckler says: “It’s an outrage that we have so many children living in poverty in the world’s 5th richest economy. Children who grow up without the basics are more likely to be ill, struggle at school and have fewer opportunities to play.  What’s more, their chances of being unemployed, homeless or dying young as adults are signficiantly increased.”

Thursday 17th October 2019 is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and this year’s focus is on how we can act together to end poverty.

Victoria says “By joining up as a Supporter of the Bevan Foundation, people can play a vital role in helping to challenge the root causes of childhood poverty and develop solutions which enable families to break free from poverty.”

To mark International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the Bevan Foundation will be hosting a number of online activities on 17th October.
