Our new partner: Community

We’re delighted to announce our new organisational partnership with Community, the modern union for the changing world.

Community is the first of three new partners, working with the Bevan Foundation to increase equality, prosperity and justice.

“Like us, Community are focused on finding lasting solutions to create greater equality and improve people’s lives,” says Victoria Winckler, Director of the Bevan Foundation.  “We’re delighted to welcome them as our partner and look forward to working together towards our shared goals.”

Community has been helping working people in the Welsh steel industry for generations. But for the past 20 years, they’ve been reaching out to other workers across the private and voluntary sector. Today, they represent thousands of workers in charities, logistics, manufacturing, finance and betting shops, to name just a few of the areas where members work.

Assistant Secretary General of Community, John-Paul McHugh, says: “We are keen to help the communities of our members flourish. By partnering with the Bevan Foundation we hope to extend our impact and open our doors to more workers.”

The Bevan Foundation has built an enviable reputation for setting the agenda, superb cross-sector convening powers, a high media profile and exceptional reach into decision-making in Wales. This new partnership will enable the Foundation to have an even greater influence on public policy.

“Our work on equality is all about ensuring that everyone, no matter what their income or characteristics, benefits from good health, good education, secure housing and a safe community,” says Victoria. “We are currently developing an exciting programme of activities with Community – watch this space.”
