In 16 days’ time, the world will mark the 25th annual International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Today, we’re launching our No Place For Poverty campaign to raise awareness that Wales should not be a place of poverty.

As part of the campaign, we’re pleased to be able to offer all new supporters a free pack of our exclusive ‘Pictures of Wales’ greetings cards featuring images generously donated by two artists in Wales.

Our Director, Victoria Winckler explains:

“Wales is a place full of great communities, diverse heritage and incredible landscape. It is a place many of us, myself included, are proud to call home. But it faces some big challenges over the next few decades, poverty being the most pressing. Some 25% of our population are living in relative income poverty which is, quite frankly, abhorrent.

“We are working hard to address this and we’ve had some notable successes – most recently, persuading the Welsh Government to keep the school uniform grant for the poorest children.

“We are extremely grateful to Mary Jolley and Barbara Castle OBE for allowing us to print these beautiful pictures of Wales, which celebrate what make it a place we can be proud of whilst also highlighting some of the issues we desperately need to face. We invite everyone who shares our vision to see an end to poverty in Wales to find out more about the campaign and what they can do to help.”

To find out more about our free greetings cards offer, please visit the No Place For Poverty page.

Those interested in purchasing some of the ‘Pictures of Wales’ greetings cards can do so here.

As part of the campaign we are also running a sealed bid painting auction of an original painting generously donated by Barbara Castle OBE. Individuals or organisations interested in getting involved in this can find out more here.
