The Bevan Foundation has welcomed the report of the Assembly’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee on the City Deals and regional economies of Wales.
The report references the written evidence submitted jointly with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on the question of transparency, the focus of city deals and the need to prevent a ‘race to the bottom’. Most importantly, one of the Committee’s recommendations – number 7 – is that city deals should be required to promote inclusive growth – a position strongly argued for by us and JRF.
The Bevan Foundation and JRF’s input was also covered by BBC Wales.
We plan to begin work on how the city deals can deliver inclusion as well as prosperity in 2018.
