The Bevan Foundation has commented in the Western Mail on the implications of the Chancellor’s autumn statement and the analysis of it by the Institute for Fiscal Studies.
Speaking to David Williamson, Victoria Winckler of the Bevan Foundation warned of a “massive reshaping of the state” which involves “unravelling most of the post-war settlement”.
She added that the IFS analysis showed that Chancellor’s plans could “move the debate far beyond what’s achievable by salami-slicing or even redesigning services. We are potentially facing a situation where there is very little money for education, social care, policing or transport.”
