Work Programme ‘could do better’

As the Welsh Affairs Committee finds that just one in nine people on the UK Government’s flagship welfare-to-work scheme in Wales have found long-term jobs, the Western Mail reiterated in its report on 4th November 2013 Bevan Foundation Director, Victoria Winckler’s quote earlier this year that the previous New Deal programme had also struggled to place long-term unemployed people in work, as did apprenticeships.
