The Bevan Foundation’s support for the campaign by a coalition of Welsh charities for a Sustainable Development Bill was highlighted in the Western Mail on 25th July 2013.

Julian Rosser of Oxfam Cymru wrote that “We seek to combat the injustices and poverty suffered by people in Wales while maximising our small nation’s contribution to making a fairer world.  We see sustainable development as the way forward to make change a reality – in Wales and across the world.”

Mr Rosser added that organisations such as WWF Cymru, Friends of the Earth Cymru, Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, National Federation of Women’s Institutes and the Wales International Development Hub, as well as Oxfam Cymru and the Bevan Foundation, felt that Sustainable Development Bill needed to make a real difference, with a duty on the devolved public sector to “exercise their functions in order to achieve sustainable development”.
