Call for Valleys Investment

Economy The front of a building
NewsJanuary 4th, 2012

BBC Wales Today yesterday featured a recent post on the Bevan Foundation’s blog Thisismytruth, which pointed out the relative success of the economy in Merthyr Tydfil. The post, written by Bevan Foundation director Victoria Winckler, highlighted the relative success of Merthyr Tydfil in the current tough economic climate, success which Victoria attributed to recent investment in the town after decades of being starved of funding.  In the BBC Wales clip, Victoria commented that “Although there has been some money going into the Heads of the Valleys area, it’s nothing like the same amount or same intensity of effort – we think it’s time to switch the focus a little bit [from Cardiff].”

The BBC Wales feature follows previous Bevan Foundation work on regeneration in the Heads of the Valleys.

The work we undertake on regenerating the valleys relies on the generous support of our members – help us to continue this work by joining or donating.
