Professor Dai Smith, chair of Cultural History at Swansea University and Chair of the Arts Council of Wales gave a tour de force presentation on Welsh politics, society and culture on Friday 21st October. Speaking after the Bevan Foundation’s Annual General Meeting and marking its 10th birthday, Prof Smith’s talk ‘The Dream of Aneurin Bevan – the Politics of Culture’ urged politicians to be brave and tackle the so-called ‘poverty of imagination’ amongst Wales’s communities by increasing spending on the arts.
