The coronavirus pandemic has hit the Welsh economy and labour market hard.

An economic response, reset and recovery requires pathways towards a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive economy.

This important webinar draws on the Bevan Foundation’s analysis and proposals to set out a framework transforming the economy in the next Welsh Parliament term.

Alwen Williams Transforming Wales

Alwen Williams, Portfolio Director, North Wales Economic Ambition Board

Alwen Williams is Director of the North Wales Economic Ambition board. It recently signed the £1bn North Wales Growth Deal, which aims to create 3,800 new jobs by 2036 and support an uplift of £2.2bn for the North Wales economy over the same period. Alwen has worked in  in numerous management and strategic roles, including as former Director of BT Wales.

James Davies Transforming Wales

James Davies, CEO, Industry Wales

James Davies is Executive Chair of Industry Wales, focussed on addressing key areas of improvement to in the economy including  innovation, investment, skills and supply chain capability and reach. He worked for 32 years at CalsonicKansei, in UK, Europe and Japan and is also a member of the Taskforce for the Valleys and the Burns Commission.

Victoria Winckler

Dr Victoria Winckler, Director, Bevan Foundation

Dr Victoria Winckler has been the Director of the Bevan Foundation since 2002, establishing it as Wales’ most  exciting and innovative think-tank. Victoria is Wales adviser to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, a member of the Ministerial Tax Advisory Group, and a board member of Traveline Cymru.

Helen Cunningham

Helen Cunningham, Project Officer, Bevan Foundation

Helen joined the Bevan Foundation in March 2019 after a period at the European Commission in Regional and Urban Policy. Her work explores economic resilience, including  practical solutions to address  structural issues at play in  the south Wales valleys.
