With rents surging and living costs rising more and more households are struggling to keep a roof over their heads. Recent research from the Bevan Foundation has indicated that a major contributing factor to the increase in homelessness is growing gap between LHA and rents. With no indication that the UK Government is set to increase LHA things could well get worse before they get better.
As the number of people facing homelessness increases, extra pressure is being felt by local authority housing and homelessness teams. Join the Bevan Foundation for a roundtable discussion to explore what action local authorities can take to address the deepening crisis, and to share your experiences with other local authority teams from across Wales.
Join us at 11 a.m. on Tuesday the 9th of August to have your say.
This will be an online event held via Teams, with joining instructions to follow closer to the date.
Full agenda of event will be emailed to registrants at a later date.
This discussion will provide an opportunity for you to share your experiences and views, and to discuss practical solutions to rising homelessness in Wales.
The event is by invitation only. Invites will be sent to individuals with expertise in the area. If you have an interest in this policy area and feel that you could make an impact on the debate, please email Hugh Kocan at [email protected] for an invite.
Attendance is free.
The event will consist of a presentation of the latest research findings from the Bevan Foundation, followed by an open discussion around two topics. These topics will be:
