Join us for this unique session which looks at how organisations can engage effectively with law-making in Wales.

What’s it about?

Almost everyone is affected by Welsh legislation in some way, whether it is wearing a face covering in a shop, making an appointment with your GP or renting a home. Yet the Welsh Parliament’s powers to introduce new laws are relatively new and are not widely understood.

This session will outline the key features of Welsh legislation and help you not only to understand it but to know when and how to influence it.

Why you should attend

This unique half-day training session will give you unparalleled insights into how Welsh laws are made, delivered by experts in the field. It will equip you with an understanding of the opportunities and constraints on the legislative process, highlight the best ways to try to influence legislation as it is considered and what can be done to enforce it.

If you’ve ever wondered about the difference between primary and secondary legislation or wondered why the High Court gets involved in Welsh affairs then this is for you!

The session will cover:

  • the different types of Welsh legislation
  • how laws are scutinised and passed
  • a case study of influencing legislation
  • challenging legislation when it has been enacted.

Practicalities

The training will be delivered online via Zoom.  There will be time for questions and discussion with experts as well as short breaks away from the screen. The number of places is limited to ensure that you have an opportunity to contribute.

The delegate fee is highly-competitive with 33% discount for Bevan Foundation subscribers and early birds.  Please note that a modest booking fee is payable to Eventbrite in addition to the delegate fee.
