As the holiday season draws to a close, many visitors to Wales will have stayed in a holiday cottage, flat or even a shepherd’s hut or yurt. But the number of holiday lets in some communities is raising real concern about the supply and affordability of homes for local people to live in all year round.
Much of the debate has focused on the impact of holiday lets on owner-occupied homes. But the private rental sector has been affected too, especially for people who need help with their rents from housing benefit or Universal Credit.
