A short course to give you the tools to advocate effectively for your organisation or community group.

What’s it about?

Getting your voice heard in Wales’ decision-making arenas can be daunting – but it needn’t be!

This intermediate-level course will equip you with the understanding and techniques to enable you to influence or advocate effectively for your organisation or community group.  It will explain the key ‘entry points’ for engaging with Welsh Government and the Welsh Parliament, and give you top tips on putting your case.

The course assumes some knowledge of devolution and Wales’ political systems.  It can be joined as a stand-alone session or as a follow-on from the introductory course Are you being heard? Introduction to political decision-making in Wales course on Thursday 1 May.

The course consists of two 40-minute sessions and a ten minute break, delivered by Victoria Winckler and Steffan Evans.

What you’ll learn

By attending this course, you’ll gain:

  • An understanding of how to engage effectively with Welsh Government
  • Awareness of the key role of the Welsh Parliament and the different ways of contributing to its business
  • Insights into ‘what works’ well when trying to change legislation, policy or public spending.

Cost

The course can be booked as a stand-alone session or as a bundle with the introductory course.
