This project looks to understand provision for young people in Merthyr Tydfil post pandemic

Young people have been severely affected by the pandemic, losing learning time, opportunities for social and emotional development as well as job opportunities. They are at greater risk of loneliness, unemployment and homelessness than any other age group.

We are working to ensure that there are activities in the community that meet young people’s concerns and aspirations. Where activities may not be present we will offer practical recommendations for change.

Aims

  • Understand the post-pandemic concerns and aspirations of young people in Merthyr Tydfil
  • Identify gaps or opportunities in provision
  • Offer recommendations for change and practical steps to achieve change

 What we are doing?

The Bevan Foundation is looking to better understand provision offered to young people in Merthyr Tydfil through a mix of discussion groups, one-to-one interviews and other engagement methods. We will work closely with community organisations to help ensure that there are activities in the community that meet young people’s needs. We may also identify potential for young people themselves to get involved in running community groups. We will work closely with youth and community groups and with statutory bodies to ensure they are engaged with and receptive to the findings of the project.

Get involved

If you are an organisation that works with young people or in delivering provision for young people – specifically young disabled people, young carers and young people not in education, employment or training – or a young person who would like to share your experiences you can get in touch by contacting Lloyd Jones.
