Supporting people with no recourse to public funds in the cost-of-living crisis
The cost-of-living crisis has caused hardship to many people across Wales. People with no recourse to public funds (NRPF) are excluded from accessing most welfare benefits, and with no forecast for crisis improvement in the years to come, it is essential that solutions are found to avoid destitution.
Aims
The aim of the project is to identify meaningful ways to support migrants with NRPF in Wales during the cost-of-living crisis. The project objectives are to:
- Identify and clarify the rights and entitlements of people with NRPF in Wales.
- Increase awareness of rights and entitlements.
- Review local authority practices and find practical solutions for improving support and increasing access to services.
- Work with people with lived experience of NRPF to inform the project and help identify solutions.
What we’re doing
- Bringing together people with lived experience of NRPF; listening to their concerns and building on their ideas for change; and supporting them to advocate for their rights.
- Talking to local authorities about how they support people with NRPF and how they use Welsh Government Guidance.
- Identifying models of good practice and making recommendations for change.
