Everyone should have a safe and stable place to call home.
But thousands of people in Wales are living without this basic right.
Record numbers of people are living in temporary accommodation, and the cost-of-living crisis means that many more are worried about losing their homes.
Our latest research has shown that one in every 215 households in Wales now live in temporary accommodation. This includes over 3,000 children – nearly six in every 1,000 children in Wales. Whilst temporary accommodation is an important lifeline at a time of crisis, it can never be a place to call home.
There are also not enough social homes to go round – 139,000 people are waiting for a social home and not enough new social homes are being built.
We’re highlighting the scale and impact of the housing crisis in Wales – we need your help so that everyone can have the hope of home.
Will you help us raise £2,500 to help get more, better and affordable homes for everyone in Wales?
We’ll use your donation to find ways to provide a decent home for people stuck in temporary accommodation and to make sure there are enough social homes to go around.
Other ways you can donate:
1. Donate with a gift certificate
Spread the joy of giving! Donate on behalf of someone special, and we’ll create a personalised gift certificate with a message from you for the recipient.
2. Donate in place of Christmas cards
Choose to send one of our festive e-cards through Don’t Send Me A Card and donate the money you would have spent on traditional cards.
3. Set up a Facebook fundraiser
Can’t decide what you want for Christmas? Why not ask for donations instead of gifts? Create your own fundraiser on Facebook and support our appeal with the help of your friends and family. If you’re not sure where to start with setting up a Facebook fundraiser, follow our handy step-by-step guide.
4. Raise donations by shopping online
We know times are tough, and not everyone can donate directly. But you can still help us by shopping online! Shop through Give as you Live, and thousands of retailers will make a donation on your behalf at no extra cost to you.
5. Raise donations while you socialise
Turn your next coffee morning, lunch, or evening get-together into a fundraising event! Ask your guests to donate the cost of a cuppa, and then simply donate the total amount via our form.
