Reducing Poverty in Wales: some examples to inspire change

Poverty
ReportsResourcesNovember 29th, 2013

With one in four people living on poverty-level incomes and no change in sight, this short report takes a timely look at the practical action that organisations across Wales are taking to address the two main drivers of low income – worklessness amongst those furthest from the labour market, and in-work poverty.

With an introduction from Victoria Winckler, setting the scene, and an afterword from Peter Kenway, reflecting on the issues for policy makers, the highlights are the twelve examples of action.  Often small-scale, always intensive and frequently highly successful, the case studies show that ex-offenders, homeless young people, people with complex personal and practical difficulties can, with the right help, find and sustain employment.
