Is There a Crisis in Social Care?

EventsEvent Date: Nov 2nd, 2012  Time: 10:00 - 15:00  Location: University of Wales, Newport - Caerleon Campus

Is there a crisis in social care?  At a time where austerity measures are hitting social care services hard and many carers are risking their own financial security in order to care for family members, this one-day conference will look at issues facing those working in social care on a daily basis and the future of how we care for the vulnerable.

Attenders will gain valuable insight into the current landscape of social care in Wales and beyond – and in the issues facing carers and policy makers as they confront pressing challenges in the years ahead.

The conference would be excellent for:

  • Carers and service users
  • Campaigners and researchers on relevant issues
  • Students of social work, social policy, health and social care
  • Anyone with an interest in current policy and practice in social care

The day will feature talks and presentations from Chris Davies CBE, Rhian Davies (Chief Executive, Disability Wales), Mark Drakeford AM, Liz Lloyd (University of Bristol) and Rob Taylor (Chair, Age Alliance Wales).
